Who is Three Mobile?
Three were the first company in the UK to launch a 3G network, and this has formed a strong portion of their branding over the last decade. Introduced in 2003, they were the first mobile company to bring video calling to the masses.
Three employ just over 4,400 employees in the UK, and have over 320 retail stores. They boast over 9 million active customers. Three also handle 42% of all mobile data traffic in the United Kingdom.
Three is owned by Hutchison Whampoa, who have operations in eleven countries around the world.
Three Network Coverage
Three has recently extended its cover to 98% of the entire UK population, and has continued to increase its coverage since it introduced the UK’s first 100% 3G network in 2003. The mobile operator also just recently topped the YouGov poll for network reliability for the 8th quarter in a row.
When Three first launched their network, purely a 3G network, it was panned for having poor coverage and low resilience. However, the operator then linked up with Orange to provide a 2G offering in conjunction with its next generation network, meaning they could get more signal to more customers up and down the UK.
Three has since upgraded its spectrum and is now able to offer 4G across the UK, which you can get at no additional cost per month.
Three Customer Services
The 3 customer services team is located in the UK, and are open for calls between Monday and Friday from 8am in the morning to 8pm in the evening. They are also open for business weekends and will take calls between 9am on Saturday and Sunday until 6pm.

Am I allowed to upgrade my phone?
Unlike other operators, Three will only let you extend your contract and get a new phone if you’re within the last 30 days of your minimum term.
You might be able to upgrade if you’re outside of this period, but you’ll be expected to pay off the remainder of your contract term at the point of upgrading, and you won’t be able to get a new phone until this point.
It’s worth remembering that if you do pay to upgrade, your contract should always start from the day you upgrade.
You don’t always have to upgrade. If you find that you are happy with your contract as it is, or you don’t want to upgrade to a new handset, then you can let your contract continue as it is. Three won’t change your package or phone until you upgrade or cancel your agreement with them.

Feel at Home
One of Three’s biggest selling points is their ‘Feel at Home’ option, which lets you use all of your UK inclusive options, including texts, calls and data, anywhere in any of the 42 countries included in their area.
These countries include destinations all over the globe, including the United States, most of Europe (including Denmark, Czech Republic, Croatia and Italy) and countries such as Sri Lanka, Cyprus, the Channel Islands and Israel, amongst others.
All you need to do to qualify to use your phone abroad at no extra cost is to travel to any of the locations above and then turn on data roaming. That’s it! Then you can continue to use your phone as normal.
It’s worth noting that Feel at Home is only available for customers on Three, and doesn’t include any customers on any of the Essential Plans. All you can eat Data
Three has gained a lot of favour with its customers over the years for its continued offering of ‘unlimited data’ across some of its Pay Monthly plans.
Where customers of Vodafone, O2 and EE are capped every month, Three now carries more mobile data than any other mobile operator in the UK, thanks to its unlimited data proposition.

As with the other mobile networks, Three offers its customers a dedicated mobile app which will enable you to go and see your current usage, manage all of your bills or check when you are due for an upgrade. It’s the quickest, most convenient way to check all of your allowances and make sure you’re not going over your minutes or data.
To download this app, go to the Application Store from your device and search for Three. You will need to login using your online account details for Three so make sure you have these to hand.
