TalkTalk is the UK’s first quad-play provider – meaning that it is the first operator in the UK to be able to provide you with service for your home telephone, your mobile telephone, your broadband and your television.
TalkTalk’s specially trained staff are able to deal with any of the most frequently asked questions, as well as be able to resolve complex issues such as billing queries and diagnose any broadband faults. Who is TalkTalk?
TalkTalk was founded in 2003, and it’s easy to forget how young the communications provider is. Started as part of the Carphone Warehouse, TalkTalk was separated and became a company on its own in 2010.
I’m having trouble with my TalkTalk broadband
If you’re having trouble with your TalkTalk broadband, then the best thing that you can do is to check the lights that are flashing on the front of your TalkTalk router.
The power light should be a solid green if it’s plugged in, so if you’re experiencing a red light or even an off light, then you should make sure that the device is switched on at your wall plug.
You should also look and see if the button on the side of the new TalkTalk router is switched to the on position, as this button will control the operation of the router.
If you’re trying to use a power supply other than the one that came with your broadband router, then you should contact TalkTalk helpline on the number above to order a new one.
Your broadband light should also be a solid green. If it isn’t, whether it’s off or whether it’s flashing, then it sounds like you have a problem.
You need to make sure that the grey ADSL cable that plugs into the phone socket or micro filter is connected correctly. If you don’t have a micro filter added in, then you need to make sure that you order one from the TalkTalk contact number as soon as possible.
In addition to the broadband and power light, there is also an Internet light which should be either solid green or flashing green when it’s connected to a successful internet connection. If this displays as red, then it sounds like you have a timeout issue on your router. The quickest way to attempt to resolve this issue is to restart your router and see if you can get a solid green or flickering light as described above.
It’s also possible that TalkTalk is upgrading your router during this downtime. It’s always worth waiting five minutes or so to see if your router fixes itself.
As part of its commitment to its customers, TalkTalk also launched its own mobile network in early 2010 and called it TalkTalk Mobile. It backed onto the Vodafone network, and is what is known as an MVNO (that’s a Mobile Virtual Network Operator).
In late 2014, TalkTalk decided to move over and use the O2 network, which also supports the popular Giffgaff and Tesco Mobile networks.
If you’re having trouble with your TalkTalk Mobile SIM card, or if you think you might be eligible for a free upgrade, then it’s worth giving the Talk Talk customer services number a call on the telephone number at the top of the page.
TalkTalk also offers fibre-optic broadband in the UK at one of the cheapest overall rates. Some of TalkTalk’s packages start from as little as £8.75 per month, provided that you sign up to an 18-month contract. This will give you a speed of up to 38MB/s.
Once you’ve upgraded to fibre broadband with TalkTalk, they will give you one of their Super Routers, which will let you connect to the internet at a much higher speed. The price of TalkTalk’s broadband is much cheaper compared to another operator like BT, meaning you can save up to £140 over the life of your 18-month agreement.
If you don’t fancy having fibre-optic broadband with TalkTalk, then you could take their standard offering from the low price of only £3.75 per month.
Cancelling TalkTalk service
If you’re thinking of cancelling your TalkTalk service, then give the helpline team a call on the number at the top of the page. The helpline team promise to help resolve any issue that is making you want to cancel. They have a dedicated team to make sure you end up happy.
If you’re moving home, then you can also take your TalkTalk service with you. All you need to do is put in your old address and your new one, and TalkTalk will schedule a date to move your service to your new property.
TalkTalk will also offer advice when you’re cancelling your service due to a fault, as this may be caused by faults from outside of the TalkTalk influence of control.
TalkTalk has also began offering a TV service, which launched in 2012. Powered by the popular YouView platform, TalkTalk TV lets customers watch a variety of different TV channels including Sky channels Sky One and Sky Two, as well as Sky Sports News, UK Gold, Discovery and MTV. The TalkTalk set-top-box also includes Freeview HD as standard, which means you can enjoy BBC HD, ITV HD and Channel 4 HD for free.
Some of the TalkTalk boxes also allow you to watch Netflix through the set-top device, meaning that for only £5.99 a month you can enjoy thousands of movies, TV shows and documentaries all without a contract or satellite dish. Just give the Talk Talk contact number a call and they will be able to set you up with a free 30-day trial of Netflix.
Please note that if you don’t cancel your trial within the first 30-days then you will automatically be billed for the following month on your TalkTalk bill.
