Who is Vodafone?
Vodafone is one of the most popular mobile phone providers in the UK. They have since expanded their offering to include not only mobile phones, but home broadband and mobile broadband as well. The company also sells tablets, such as iPads and Samsung Galaxy Tabs.
It is reported that the company has nearly 20 million customers in the United Kingdom, providing them with services ranging from Pay as you Go mobiles, to fixed-term pay monthly contracts.
As well as supplying their own network and SIM cards to go in the latest phones, including iPhones and Samsung devices, it also produces its own hardware, including the extremely popular range of budget handsets, the Vodafone Smart device.
Vodafone are one of the only companies in the UK to own and operate their own network, including their unrivalled 4G coverage which is supposed to be stronger and more reliable than any other mobile 4G carrier in the country. You may need to check online coverage checker to see if you are eligible to receive a 4G connection. If you’re not in a 4G enabled area, then you may only be able to receive 3G data services.
When can I upgrade my mobile phone?
If you’re on a pay monthly contract, then you may be entitled to upgrade your mobile phone before the end of your contract. Customers on one of the company’s own Red tariffs will be able to extend their agreement and take advantage of early upgrade policy 60 days before the end of the contract.
It’s worth noting that any months you have left on your contract get added to a new agreement. So if you have two months left on your contract, and you upgrade to a 24-month agreement, you’ll have 26 months left before you’re contract free.
If you’re on a SIM-only contract, or if you’re on one of Vodafone’s standard offerings, then you will only be able to upgrade 30 days before the end of your existing agreement.
To upgrade your mobile phone, give the Vodafone UK customer service team a call by dialling the number at the top of the page.
Can I upgrade before the early upgrade period?
If you’re outside of the 60-day or 30-day upgrade window, then you may still be able to upgrade your phone. You will need to buy out the rest of your contract from Vodafone, and this will be charged at your monthly line rental multiplied by the amount of months left on your contract. Once this Early Termination Fee has been paid, you will be able to upgrade immediately and start a new contract with a new device.
It’s important to know that this fee must be paid at point of upgrade, and can’t be added to your bill.
To upgrade early, you’ll need to speak to the Upgrades team by dialling the Vodafone customer service number at the top of the page.
How do I cancel my contract?
If you’re looking to cancel your contract, or if you’re looking to obtain a PAC code, then the best thing you can do is call Vodafone Customer Services on the telephone number at the top of the page. They will walk you through the cancellation process, or they may even offer you a better deal to convince them to stay with them.
It’s not uncommon for there to be a fee to cancel your contract, especially if you have months remaining on your existing agreement. The best way to see how long is left on your contract is to either log in to My Vodafone, or call the Vodafone number at the top of this page.
How do I top up my phone?
If you’re on Pay as you Go, you can either top up in-store by visiting any electronic kiosk operator, or you can register your credit or debit card by calling 2345 from your mobile phone and using that to fund your credit.
You are also able to set up automatic top-ups by calling 18829, and this will let you top up your phone either weekly or monthly from your credit or debit card.
You can also top up by visiting any of the retail stores across the United Kingdom or call the Vodafone helpline.
Vodafone Home Phone and Broadband
After buying Cable and Wireless Worldwide in 2013, it now owns its own wired cable network and can offer Home Broadband to its almost 20 million customers in the UK. They have also just launched their brand new Zero Line Rental offering which is the only offering in the UK to not charge the standard £18 line rental that is usually enforced by BT.
With Vodafone Broadband you can get either their standard service, which will offer speeds of up to 17Mbps, or opt for their Unlimited Fibre service which will give you much faster speeds of up to 76Mbps. Call the Vodafone customer service number above to find out the current rates.
